Message from the Director
Greetings to all of you.
Thank you for the love that you have for Literacy Aid Uganda (LAU).
I am indebted to God for His mercies and to all of you for your prayers and support.
In 2000 when we were beginning Literacy Aid Uganda, we begun as an NGO which only offered basic adult education and to date, LAU is known among the majority as a “school for adults”.
However as years moved on, we realized that teaching people only knowing how to read and write, was not enough. Literacy education involves more than teaching people how to read and write. The youths, who where unemployed after knowing how to read and write were almost back to zero level which led us to think further hence the introduction of carpentry, tailoring e.t.c.. We are now equipping youths with self-sufficiency skills.
Getting to the level where we are now, has been a long walk of struggle, patience, sacrifice and perseverance. I am grateful for the spirit of volunteerism to our dedicated staff and Board members who have been with me for all these years...Read more
Literacy Aid Uganda is a non-governmental, not-for profit organization licenced by the government of the Republic of Uganda, to spearhead adult literacy education amongst the less fortunate Ugandans.
Hundreds of women and children have been equipped with skills in cookery, pottery, ceramics, tailoring, knitting, painting, basic carpentry, etc.
